Safari Air - (Air Charter)
Safari Air is our in-house air transport operator and has been in business continually since 1992. It operates under Air Operator’s Certificate #O29 as issued and renewed annually by the Botswana Civil Aviation Authorities. All our aircraft are specifically designed for bush operations. Our fleet comprises of three Cessna Caravans which can take pilot and 13 passengers (turbo prop aircraft), one Britten Norman Islander (pilot and 9 passengers), two Gippsland GA8 Airvans (pilot and 6 passengers), five Cessna C206 (pilot and 5 passengers) and a Cessna C207 (pilot and 6 passengers).   We have a compliment of pilots originating from all over the world including countries such as New Zealand, South Africa, United Kingdom and Botswana. All our pilots hold Botswana Commercial Pilots Licenses together with Commercial Pilots Licenses for their country of origin.

Flying is an integral part of your safari in northern Botswana and is a wonderful way to get a scenic over-view of the area you are visiting.   On our fly-in safaris, air transfers are usually costed on a seat-in-plane basis where guests are flown with other passengers to their destination. If you prefer to book a plane for exclusive use, at extra cost, to ensure that you are flown directly to the next camp (and possibly to allow you an increased baggage allowance), please request this when booking.

For inter-camp air transfers, space and safety concerns do not allow for excess baggage, so the following should be taken into account: There is a very strict weight restriction on all light aircraft. The limit is 20kgs per person that MUST be packed into small soft bags (duffel bags). The soft duffel bags make it easy for the luggage to be stowed on the aircraft. Camera and video equipment are included in the 20 kg limit. We cannot afford to take a chance on safety, so any excess luggage will be left behind with our representative and forwarded to your point of departure at your expense if necessary, or returned to you if you depart through the same point. You can minimize your clothing needs by finding multiple uses for each item. Keep in mind that there are laundry services at most of the camps and lodges where you will stay.
