Jao Camp is located on a remote island in a private concession which borders the Moremi Game Reserve. There are many habitats ranging from waterways and lagoons to Kalahari grasslands and open floodplains. At Jao you will experience both land and water experiences, depending on the current flood levels. Jao Camp has a salon where a wide range of massage therapies are offered.

Upon your arrival into Maun Airport you will be met and welcomed by a representative from The Booking Company, who will assist you with your connection onto light aircraft to Jao Camp. Jao Camp has nine spacious tents, each individually handcrafted. These canvas and thatched rooms have en-suite facilities, with an outdoor shower. Each tent is built on raised decks, with a private sala for afternoon siestas. The views of the surrounding floodplains are great. Other facilities include a lounge and dining area, as well as two plunge pools and an outdoor boma for dining under the stars.

At the Jao Camp beauty salon there is a full menu of therapies ranging from Clarin's facials, through to manicures, pedicures and a range of massage options. African Aromatherapy massages, Indian head massages and Clarins facials are just a few of the favourites at Jao, leaving you rejuvenated and floating like a leaf over the Delta swamps. Mokoros, boat trips, fishing, nature walks, day and night game drives and birding are usually on offer all year round. There are two platform hides in the concession where sleep outs can be arranged. Huge herds of red lechwe can be seen, followed by prides of lion. Other game includes elephant, buffalo, leopard, tsessebe, zebra and wildebeest, hippo and crocodile. Many bird species are resident such as Meyer's Parrot, African Harrier Hawk, Black egret, Coppery-tailed Coucal, Malachite Kingfisher, Hamerkop and Black Crake. Jao is involved in the Jao Lion Monitoring Project. Individual lions are identified and every effort is made to keep track of their movements, social behaviour and condition. Over the years some unusual behaviour and intriguing developments in the various lion prides have been documented in the Jao area.
